    Mizuno JPX923 Hot Metal Irons

Mizuno built these irons around a single material breakthrough: 4335 Nickel Chromoly, which is 35% stronger than their original Hot Metal alloy and enables a face 8% thinner than was previously possible.

Thinner face means more flex at impact. More flex means faster ball speeds. The JPX923 Hot Metal is Mizuno's distance iron, and the material science behind it is what separates it from competitors claiming similar performance through different means.

    Why It Works

    • 4335 Nickel Chromoly face: The stronger the material, the thinner the face can be while remaining structurally sound. Thinner means more deflection at impact, which converts to faster ball speed across a larger area of the face. The 8% reduction in thickness relative to the original Hot Metal is the number that drives the distance gains.
    • Seamless Cup Face with CORTECH design: The face wraps around the perimeter of the head in a seamless construction, extending the rebound area to the edges rather than concentrating it centrally. CORTECH optimises face thickness distribution to maximise the COR area. Variable sole thickness adds further flex to the overall face system. Three separate design elements working toward the same outcome: ball speed from more of the face.
    • V-Chassis with Harmonic Impact Technology: The V-shaped internal chassis allows a thinner topline without sacrificing feel or sound. Thinner toplines look better at address for players who want a cleaner, less bulky iron. The Harmonic Impact Technology fine-tunes head geometry specifically for ideal impact feedback, which is why these irons feel like a Mizuno despite the distance-iron construction.
    • Acoustic Sound Ribs: Precisely calibrated vibration patterns produce a solid, explosive impact sound. Not a side effect of the design, a deliberate engineering target. The sound of a well-struck Mizuno is part of the product.
    • Bevelled trailing edge: Aggressive relief reduces turf drag through impact. Cleaner turf interaction means more consistent contact from different lies, particularly useful from light rough and tight fairway lies.
    • White Satin Brush Finish: Non-glare, durable, and visually clean at address. Holds up better than chrome finishes in high-frequency play.

    Who It's For

Mid-to-high handicappers who want genuine Mizuno feel and feedback in a distance iron. Golfers upgrading from older cavity backs who want to understand what modern face technology actually does to ball speed. Players who've avoided distance irons because they felt dead or gave no feedback, the V-Chassis and Harmonic Impact Technology address that specifically.

    One Thing Worth Knowing

The JPX923 Hot Metal sits at the distance end of Mizuno's iron range. If you're a low handicapper or a confident ball striker who wants more feel and workability over outright distance, the JPX923 Forged or the Pro range are closer to the right fit. If you're a mid-handicapper who wants Mizuno quality with maximum distance and forgiveness, this is exactly what it was built for.

    Technical Info

Harmonic Impact Technology: Fine tuned head geometry delivers ideal impact feel and feedback

Seamless Cup Face: Thinned areas revolving 360 degrees around the perimeter increase rebound area for maximum ball speed across the entire face

CORTECH Design: Optimized face thickness distribution to maximize COR AREA

Variable Sole Thickness: Increase overall face flex area for add CORAREA

Acoustic Sound Ribs: Precisely dial in specific vibration patterns for a solid, explosive impact sound

Beveled Trailing Edge: Aggressive relief on the trailing edge for reduced turf drag

V-Chassis: Engineered via Mizuno's Harmonic Impact Technology, the V-Chassis allows the top line to be thinner without sacrificing feel and sound.

4335 Nickel Chromoly: 4335 Nickel Chromoly is 20% stronger, allowing for an 8% reduction in face thickness, resulting in higher ball speeds.

White Satin Brush Finish: A modern elegant, yet durable non-glare finish
