TaylorMade r7 TP Fairway Wood Left Hand
As with all products in TaylorMade’s TP line, including the new r5 dual TP driver, the r7 TP fairway woods were
created at the request of tour professionals who wanted a fairway wood that incorporates the look of the V Steel,
which is the No. 1 fairway wood on the PGA Tour and European Tour, with the trajectory-changing capabilities of TaylorMade’s Movable Weight Technology.

Titanium has a higher strength/weight ratio than steel. Because of that, a clubhead design fabricated from titanium
is lighter than the same clubhead fabricated from steel. Titanium is necessary in the r7 TP fairway woods in order to
save the weight necessary – 50 grams – to incorporate TLC technology.

Because titanium is very strong yet less dense than steel, it’s natural to assume that the r7 TPs have a lower MOI
than the V Steel, equalling less forgiveness on mis-hits. However, weight devoted to the r7 TP’s TLC ports and TLC
cartridges, as well as the manner in which the TLC ports are spaced, allowed TaylorMade engineers to boost the
clubhead’s MOI up to where it’s equal to the V Steel. Thus players interested in switching from V Steel to the r7 TP
will not give up any forgiveness on mis-hits.

The V Steel’s shape and size have proven extremely popular among tour pros, and because of that TaylorMade
engineers employed the same shape and size for the r7 TP fairway woods. Likewise, the r7 TP also borrows the V
Steel’s tour-proven V-shaped sole, which decreases turf resistance at impact to improve playability and promote
higher ball speed for greater distance.

r7 TP fairway woods have begun appearing in the bags of touring professionals at the 2005 Players Championship;
players who have used them include Retief Goosen and Scott Verplank.
